Dr. Julia Yang earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa in 1999. After working as a general dentist in private practice for two years, she decided to specialize in Periodontics by attending Boston University School of Dental Medicine. She was the recipient of the Dr. Morris Rubin Scholarship award in 2001 and the Excellence in Periodontology Award in 2003 which was awarded to the top graduating student who demonstrated the best overall performance. Dr. Yang was also awarded the Dean’s Scholarship during the years 2004-2006. In 2006, Dr. Yang graduated and also earned a Doctor of Science degree for her research thesis. Since then she has been practicing in numerous dental offices in the south shore areas as well as MIT Medical, specializing in periodontics and dental implants. In 2006, Dr. Yang earned the highest distinction given to a periodontist by becoming board certified by the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Yang is a proud member of the American Academy of Periodontology, and the Academy of Osseointegration. Dr. Yang also holds dental licenses in 4 countries and 3 states. She has authored numerous articles with regards to periodontics in many respected journals.
In her spare time, Dr. Yang enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her husband and their two daughters.
